About Me
I am a curious explorer of the universe! I like to investigate the world around me through a variety of lenses. The first lens I was introduced to is science. I particularly enjoy physics and astronomy, which is why I studied Aerospace Engineering and Space Physics in college. I consider myself a lifelong learner and I have always loved school, which is why I pursued my Master’s and PhD in Space Propulsion. I enjoy teaching and helping others get curious and excited about STEM - check out my courses page. I have also had the opportunity to work on a lot of interesting research projects in the field of electric propulsion – check out my research page. I currently work as the Observatory Specialist at Middlebury College's Mittelman Observatory where I operate and maintain the observatory, facilitate student use of the observatory for astronomy courses and research, and organize an astronomy outreach events program.
The second lens I've learned to look through is yoga. Broadly speaking, yoga can be considered a particular way of investigating reality with the goal of direct experience and realization of our true nature. Yogic teachings and practices come from ancient India and many different schools of yoga have been developed over thousands of years. I was introduced to yogic teachings and practices in graduate school, which helped me navigate a difficult period with my mental and emotional health. I have taught yoga and mindfulness classes and currently lead group coaching sessions as a health & life coach. My goal is to use my relevant knowledge, skills, and experience to promote wellbeing in academic environments.
The third lens is attached to my camera! I love to spend time in nature photographing the surrounding beauty, which continuously expands my sense of wonder for life and the universe. Birds, butterflies, and bees are some of my favorite creatures to photograph – check out my photos page! With these three lenses, I approach my work from a holistic viewpoint, which allows me to contribute to higher education and beyond in unique and creative ways.
